I only like the Revive and XXX flavors - the others all seem to me utterly unpalatable. (And mostly, like Gatorade, I only like the taste even of those when I really should be drinking them.)
I think they tend to taste significantly better the more you need them, as someone said above. (I suppose it says something about my general level of hydration and such that only rarely do they not taste fabulous.)
Most of what I consume has a lot of sugar and salt in it :) which is part of the overall problem*. But, one hurdle at a time. Today I'm just trying to beat back dehydration so I can switch to regular water tomorrow.
i know a lot of people drink those "water" drinks because they think they're water. and then the salt makes them MORE dehydrated and the sugar makes them hungry/fat. I'm one of those people who thinks the FDA should make them take "Water" off the label. (http://www.usnews.com/health/blogs/on-fitness/2009/1/15/vitaminwater-health-claim-lesson-read-labels.html). But apparently there's no salt in that one, so that's good!
I was trying the vitamin water as a salt-free alternative to gatorade...both of them are alternatives to plain water. I don't like plain water, which is a problem when I'm trying to add 24oz a day into my system! Next tactic: tossing crystal light powder into it. Kool-aid is tempting, but that's a little more sugar than my tooth enamel can encounter without injury!
I'm generally happy to try just about any food, unless it's the kind that attempts to crawl off one's plate, but I'm very picky and aversive about beverages. Inconvenient!
I have no patience with my stepkids when they say they don't like water - nobody likes being DEAD, which is basically the alternative to drinking water! - but I do hear you. I hear the crystal light powder is the lesser of many evils, and a lot of people who don't like water do swear by it. I've seen cute little pouches for carrying the crystal light packets in the purse forums on LJ. :-)
i often mix some cranberry "juice" (cocktail) into my water to make it taste better. like 1 part cranberry to 2 or 3 parts water. the downside to that is cranberry juice is more diuretic than plain water.
I like a little juice (citrus or cran or pomegranate) in my water. Or some mint. If you don't mind the color you can soak some mint tea bags in your water and they taste all fresh and cool. Drinking plain water always feels like a chore.

My favourites are the grape, the dragonfruit, and the lemonade.
