I've been unusually productive in the last week or so, writing-wise.

- 50 pages or so of problem management info & updates - from scratch
- 900 lines of configuration management spreadsheet data - updated & rearranged existing doc
- 2-page backup tape-handling how-to - from scratch
- 1-page Token Ring migration plan - first draft - from scratch
- 3-page Server Decommission procedure & checklist - from scratch

Pretty good considering I'm not, technically, a Technical Writer these days.

I even wrote 2 pages of fiction, plus I scrawled some dialogue on my desk blotter (Which totally counts!). The novel will be done in NO time!

I think my writer's block is really actually finally cleared up, but I have a lifestyle now that's just not conducive to writing very much. So I'm trying to adjust my habits to match up to my now-chatty muse, while I still have the freedom* to do that.

That sounds like a fair amount of writing.

I need to buckle down over the next few weeks and write a journal article. I've just finished churning out fifteen PowerPoint class presentations, and thus ensured that my summer school classes are now covered.

Ooo, PowerPoint! Fun! I find that writing is easier when it directly pertains to the job and can be done during my normal work hours. It's less emotional, too, which helps with flow.

What's your journal article about?

Since I have classrooms with computers and projectors, and have been encouraged 'to employ the technology', I find it's a lot easier to do each class outline as a PowerPoint presentation.

The article is on Thomas Carlyle's proposal for establishing a feudal colony on the island of Dominica in the 19th century.

That sounds like a really cool article!

It's a very obscure subject. Right now, I'm hoping I can raise the funding to attend a Carlyle studies conference in September, after my original hope for funding fell through.
