I suppose this is a kind of progress...
Sep. 7th, 2010 04:36 pmSo I just ran across this probably-NSFW Bulgari ad featuring naked Julianne Moore lounging on a heap of cushions, wearing jewelry and a handbag whilst cuddling strategically placed widdle baby lions. And here's another one--also NVerySFW--with cockatiels cockatoos (and jewelry, and a handbag). I suppose it's a kind of progress, that the naked lady Bulgari has decided to feature in these classic tableaux is a woman in her late 40's with a distinguished career, rather than an ingenue. I'm sure the message here is that this is how career ladies nowadays like to spend their time and money--after all, I like pillows and jewelry myself, and I have been known to hold a cat on occasion--rather than that Bulgari jewelry is the best adornment for your exotic pets.

I don't find it particularly explicit but I would find it annoying to see on a billboard over and over because of the subtext [that I'm reading in it]. Although given the number of strip clubs that have billboards up on the highway by me, I suppose it would class the joint up.
