Back to normal-ish
Sep. 7th, 2009 07:23 amAfter spending two days pretending to be a much less controlling person than I actually am, it nice to be back to normal and not have to share my kiddo with anyone but Mike. The visit with Charlie's birth parents went very well, but it's left us in a chunky emotional stew, so today we're just decompressing and cuddling our boy a lot.
One surprising thing is that apparently I actually CAN cook well enough to keep people happy and un-starved. I made turkey/tomato/cucumber/avocado sandwiches for lunch on Saturday (I put the avocado on the side for them, because it was their first time trying it), and spaghetti with sauteed squash and italian sausage for dinner, served buffet style so everyone could avoid anything they didn't like. Sunday I made scrambled eggs & toast for breakfast and risotto with chicken and mushrooms for a late lunch/early dinner, plus more sauteed squash and plain white rice in case they didn't like the risotto (they did).
Mike teased me about being a "regular wife" with all the cooking and dish-doing (normally he does the dishes, but this time I wanted to do something to keep occupied) but since I started off yesterday moving a dead squirrel out of the street and into the trash while he emptied the dishwasher, I think my tomboy card is still intact.
