Models of the Runway

Is anyone else watching this?  It's the "Project Runway" models, so we get to see their side of things.  It sounded fun, but since they're not actually in a competition, no matter what Heidi says, there is no potential for Top Model/Make Me A Supermodel hilarity, other than the awful outfits they will have to wear on PR. 

So, the first episode was pretty much "I hope I don't get eliminated,"  "I love my designer, I hope he continues to win;" "Since my designer got eliminated, I could get eliminated too; I hope I don't,"  with a brief interlude of "OMG I got free stuff as a result of winning! Awesome free stuff that I will mostly not show to the camera!" 

I dunno, I think it's going to suck, but I guess I'll watch one more episode and see if something interesting happens.

I watched it, albeit with my netbook open in my lap, so it didn't have all my attention. It has the model selection now, so I guess we won't be seeing that on PR proper anymore, and it's interesting seeing that from the models' perspective. I also liked what I saw about the girls not being catty and backstabby, unlike ANTM...however, if previews mean anything, that likely won't last.

Like you, I'll watch it once or twice more, and we'll see.

I wasn't watching Make Me A Supermodel for wacky hijinks. I was watching it to lust after Casey Skinner. After the boy who looked like him got eliminated early on season 2, I quit watching. Aren't all the Project Runway models girls?

Yeah, all girls on Project Runway, because the competition is in sewing stuff to put on them. Casey was pretty--he was the Axl Rose-ish one, right? But I watch those shows because I enjoy seeing people have to do things that nobody should have to do in the course of a job. At the same time as getting to see people complain about the most basic job requirements. Like on Project Runway's first ep this week, one girl "doesn't sketch." WHUT.

I wouldn't have thought to compare Casey to Axl Rose because Axl Rose is tagged in my mind as "homophobic asshole, oh yeah, and he has scruffy long hair, dark blondish." Casey, on the other hand, was "desperately pretty, sensitive hippie boy with long blondish hair, afraid of snakes." So, um, maybe?

When I watch Project Runway, it's for the clothes. I would happily have worn Daniel's plastic cup cocktail dress. And every damn thing from Chris March's human-hair final collection.

I mainly watch PR for the clothes, although I wouldn't wear most of them, because they're not nondescript enough :) --I'd put them on my dolls, though.

Casey was slimmer and more of a twink. I have a thing for twinks.

I am also no fan of nondescript clothes. I don't go as all-out every day as cupcake_goth does, but I do like whimsy and distinctiveness.

I'm not a fan of nondescript clothes; I just make a point of wearing them, because "cloak of invisibility" isn't available yet.

I love pretty clothes and fashion, which is why I collect fashion dolls...they don't have my issues about being looked at :)
