24 Hours of Wiscon

marydellI had a lovely time at my abbreviated con. Got to see some of the friends I made at 4th street, and got to meet some of the people I've been reading on LJ, including chatting for a while with ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
sparkymonster about kids of color and white moms. Ate just enough sushi at Wasabi with elisem and ate too much candy at karnythia 's awesome Verb Noire party. Talked with a lot of cool people there (too many to list, *waves* to everyone), and hung out with carbonel for a while at the Tor party, and ended the night in the con suite talking with ashnistrike & nameseeker & friends about angel-wrestling. Got some cool stuff in the dealer room, mostly books from A Room of One's Own but also some shinies from dddragonlady .
I met a very young woman who seemed like she needed an older woman to tell her "this specific thing you're struggling with, here's how it works, here's how it gets better, and you are going to have a good life." We spent about an hour talking in the hall after a panel, and I'm very glad I was there at that moment to be that older woman for her.
Oh and I babbled like a duogenarian fangirl at Ted Chiang. Squee!
