Resolutions

marydellIn January of 1999, I resolved to marry my life partner. Done.
In January of 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004, I resolved to get pregnant. Not done, despite best efforts.
In January of 2005, I resolved to figure out why I wasn't getting pregnant. Done to the best of my ability.
In January of 2006, I resolved to adopt a baby from China. Paperwork done; no baby.
In January of 2007, I resolved to keep my spirits up while watching the China program increase its wait time exponentially. Done to the best of my ability. Still no baby.
In January of 2008, I resolved, despite my poor odds of being chosen, to adopt a baby domestically. Done, to my continued astonishment.
In January 2009, I have no resolutions, as such. I don't feel the need for them at the moment.
I suspect this is one of the shapes that happiness takes.
