marydell: My hand holding a medusa head sculpture (by me) that's missing its snakes (Default)

Correction:  I was totally wrong about this; they emailed me and I missed it! D'Oh! Details in my comment below.

I decided to try subbing my one lit-fic story to Glimmer Train, and they predictably didn't accept it. They didn't exactly bother to reject it either--their deal is, you just keep logging into their submissions page and eventually they'll change the status on your submission so you know what they decided. No feedback, no nuthin'!  Except for the generic thanks/"keep writing" thing shown below.  Ah, well.  Their review time isn't awful, probably because they don't waste time faffing about with slips of paper and stamps and so forth.

So not only do they not send rejection slips, they don't send personal acceptances either?

Apparently not...but since they pay 700 bucks for a story, I don't suppose anybody minds.

I stand corrected - they saw my blog (*waves to Glimmer Train*) and emailed me that they had, in fact, sent me an email in September, that I missed. I had a dig around and managed to find it among the dross, and it's a perfectly nice form rejection, of the sort that I collect. Also, they phone you if they accept your story.

So the moral is:

1. I have GOT to switch to gmail or something non-yahooish that will do a better job with spammage

2. They have a very efficient system for handling subs and notifications, in addition to paying well and publishing a nice journal.

3. I better go check to see if I have overlooked an emailed rejection from Strange Horizons as well, since I have a sub out to them at the moment

4. They have blog alerts, and take the time to correct people who are wrong, which is cool. My apologies to them for being wrong!
