Got back tonight from a road trip to visit some of my family and am all churned up about various things including the DF thread on ML.  Also I wrote a story when I got home, something that had been brewing for a while.  Short one, easy to finish in a night, but hard to go sleep after because once the faucet is open, it's open.

But I gotta work tomorrow. Um, today, that is. Fuck, the alarm will be going off in 5 hours.

You make it sound like IT people need more than that to be hale and hearty and ready to take on the world and its recalcitrant computer systems.

Perhaps we do...fortunately my boss is out of town all week, so I won't be doing any real work.

(I kid. When my boss is out, I have to work more. Because I have a boss who works really hard, which is pretty great, except when I'm filling in for him.)

As for myself, I don't know what I'd do if not for coffee. On second thought,I do know what I'd do. I'd fall asleep at my desk, with either my forehead hitting the keyboard as I fall forward, or the back of my skull as I fall backward and off my chair. (Those 12-hour days are becoming a drag.)

I hope you managed to get to sleep. I can't manage too well on five hours these days, though I used to.

I finally nodded off around two. I can do ok on four or five hours as long as I'm well-rested beforehand. Which I'm not.

It's my own fault though. There's that thread on Making Light that has completely sucked me in, and I also wrote a short story. So it was a good night, but today is yaaawn.

I actually have it absurdly good, since the little guy sleeps really well, and I have a partner who actually does half of the work. So he took care of the morning feeding so I got to sneak another 30 minutes of sleep.

But, yeah, I miss sleeping til 10 am on weekends.
