marydell: My hand holding a medusa head sculpture (by me) that's missing its snakes (Default)

Hooray! Amazon just emailed me that Witchblade is coming out on DVD in July. I've been waiting for this for a while. The second season didn't work for me - they were doing annoying stuff with the plot, Yancey Butler was apparently drunk a lot - I gave up on it after a couple of episodes. But the first season was a perfect confection of mumbo-jumbo, female badassitude, intricate plotting, and hot, HOT men.

I was pretty much the same way. Great first season, then they literally rebooted the whole thiung. Unfortunately, the second time around, it felt like a retread in places, and like missed opportunities in other places.

I liked the way they ended season 1 actually, partly because it wrapped everything up nicely so I could totally skip season 2. It was a great ending, but impossible to follow up on, I think, because we weren't likely to care about all of the stuff enough to want to go through it all again. Like "jeez, so now she has to figure out what the WB is AGAIN? She was such a moron about it the first time!"

Oh, I was agreeing with you about Season One's ending, but, like you said, there was no way they could follow up and make it seem fresh.
