The symbolism of having the first speaker after the debt ceiling vote be someone who had almost literally had a gun put to her head did not escape me.
On the other hand, I suspect having her speak did defuse a lot of anger and frustration in the chamber, as almost no one who voted on the bill seemed to be happy with it, whether they voted for or against.
