I know you've probably never heard this...but did you know your baby is ADORABLE??!?!!?!?

Well. He is.

Look at him sitting up! Go Charlie! :D

I started the second row of squares tonight. Is preeeeeetty. I might make it wider--we'll see how the yarn supply holds up.

6" squares with giant yarn go fast.

I lack the commitment to manage even one, I assure you. I haven't ever managed to finish knitting a skinny scarf for a DOLL.

Yeah, well, you make up stories. Committing to what we're good at is a talent we both have.

LOL, I make them up, but I rarely write them down! You have the admirable ability to be still on one level or other (even while being frenetic on other levels), which helps a lot with artistic pursuits. I have a career that generally suits my short attention span, so I've definitely committed to that. Writing is something I'm still growing.

And someday I'll try knitting again, if only to keep my poor dolls from freezing to death.

Ooh! Baby picspam! I love his room, and I really love that solar system hanging. Might need to go find one for us. :D

It's a fake-painting canvas print thing--target.com shows it's not available but actual target stores around here have them. $40.

If you go to target, you should also check out their only-available-in-the-store selection of "Fancy Nancy" 18" dolls. I got one for my friend's 4-year-old and it has been a big hit. There is dress-up stuff for the doll and for your little girl, very fun. Also books, etc.

We've got a Fancy Nancy book and a sticker book. We've noted the doll, and it's definitely on the possible future present list. We got two of her friends Fancy Nancy dressup stuff for their birthday this month.

But let me tell you, Cassie has so many dolls. My mom was just telling me how we should buy her a new baby doll when the new baby comes home, and my immediate reaction was, "She doesn't need any more dolls!"

Heh. But look who I'm talking to. :D

Hee! I hardly had any when I was a kid, and Barbies and other fashion dolls were strictly forbidden (because of the boobs, pretty much...very catholic mom). And look how I turned out!

Very cute room. Well put together.

Thanks! Our first furniture arrangement was more to our liking, but apparently sleeping near the air conditioner vent is not so fun for the little ones. He fussed until we moved the crib away from the vent, and forced us to rearrange all the cubes etc!

Tip: having a desk of your own in the baby's room is really nice.

That is the cleanest I have ever seen a room for a baby that age. :)

I love the colors and shapes. It looks really welcoming and friendly!

Utterly adorable, as ever. Charlie strives to beat all known records for cuteness, and I love the way you've done up his room.

Out of curiosity, how big is that baby quilt he's sitting on, and how useful do you find that size? I've only made one baby quilt (http://pics.livejournal.com/elettaria/pic/0000rega) so far, which was a large one as I hear they're the most useful. But my cousin in Israel is in the middle of assisted reproduction and at the moment they're holding their breath hopefully, as the surrogate is about three weeks pregnant. So when they're definite that they have a baby on the way, I'll start designing them something, say a dragon, and I'll need to make it the smallest size that's usable as it'll have to travel from Scotland to Israel.

Drat, my work web browser won't let me see your quilt pic, but I'll check it out when I get home. The "quilt" he's sitting on is actually part of a Fisher-Price "infant gym" (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2402051). He's outgrown the much-beloved musical-toys part of the thing, but the mat is padded, washable, and has slots in the corners that the legs of the overhead thingy fit through, that go nicely over a pair of hooks on the wall now that the rest of it has been put away (it's behind the panda in the other pic). I'll measure it for you tonight - it's a good size for playing on top of, and still easy to fold up and put in a bag for going to grandma's. Once he starts crawling it won't be so useful, but it's not a real quilt, despite what the manufacturer calls it! A real quilt could be used for sleeping under or as a car blanket in that same size, I would think.
