Breathing better thanks to yesterday's 40mg of prednisone. Back muscles feel like little feet have been stomping on them, though, so am holding off on taking any today--the muscle pain thing is a side effect I get. I knew there was an unpleasant one on the last go-round with the stuff, but couldn't remember until it started up again.
Anyway, I seem to get sicker after meals, so I must be consuming something that is making either my gut or my airway unhappy. So I am scheduled for allergy tests tomorrow, and I am not drinking any diet coke for the next couple of days. NO DIET COKE, I say. WOE. I drink a LOT of DC on a normal day and that is how things should be; that is what brings me happiness. But here I am drinking boring old Darjeeling tea for my caffeine hit instead. I'm not even drinking Earl Grey in case orange is a thing I'm allergic to. DC's "natural ingredients" are secret, but apparently most colas have vanilla, cinnamon, and some citrus flavoring. Plus all the chemicals and whatnot.
Since I'm having skin tests, not blood tests (every allergist has a religious devotion to one kind of test or the other, and mine is a skin tester), I can't take any antihistamine for 48 hours before the test. WOE!!! Trying to sleep with prednisone and without benadryl didn't work so well last night. So far my asthma is more or less behaving, but the nagging cough still pops up from time to time, annoying my neighbors in the cube warren, and scaring Charlie. Without going into detail, I shall observe that getting over a chest cold is harder when you spend nearly the whole day trying to politely suppress your need to cough. At least with Charlie, I have taught him to fake-cough so that he is beginning to think coughing is amusing instead of scary....but he also now thinks that the appropriate response to a person coughing is to mimic their cough and then cackle with glee. Heh.
