My friend M: We have a civics thing we do at our mosque a couple of times a year. We do presentations on how US government works, what you need to do to become a citizen. We have city and state representatives come in to talk about their jobs and elections. It's cool, you should come.

My co-worker P: I got my citizenship! I had thought about it, but I always thought it would be too hard and take too long. But M told me I should do it, that it was so important, and he helped me figure out what I needed to do.

M: I was hoping my friend from back home would decide to move here after he visited recently, but I guess he isn't going to. It's very hard, you know, to make such a big change when you are already in your 40s. He is established, he has a business. I tried to tell him, one generation has to make the sacrifice for the good of the next generations, and if you don't do it, your children will have to be the ones to do it. But you know. I did it when I was young, so it was easier.

M: America is the best country to be a Muslim. In every Muslim country, they only want you if you are their kind of Muslim. Here, you can be any kind of Muslim. This is why I tell everybody to come to America. America is the greatest country.
