Holy crap, I finished a story.

That I started writing in 2008.

I'm on a roll! If I keep it going, I can have another story finished in time for the Chicago Worldcon!

(Which is my not-so-subtle way of asking, "Can I read it? Please? PLeeeease?")

I'm bringing it right now, actually :) - showing it to you & N was my incentive for finally finishing the damn thing!

Awesome!

And I just read a bio of Somerset Maugham that talked about how some of his most famous/most critically acclaimed novels and stories were years in the making, so I am feeling more indulgent about my own "I started this in 2006 and will finish it someday" stuff.

My stories always turn out better if they pickle for a while. And I decided years ago not to push myself to write when I don't feel like it, because that never does good things for me or for the stories. "Started in 2006" is what I call a newish project. :)
