Boring baby toys
Mar. 21st, 2010 12:07 amI spent part of the day going through all of Charlie's baby toys--and bouncers, tubs, etc--to sort out the things he's too big for so they can go away. He kept sorta-recognizing toys from the first year of his life and trying to play with them as I sorted. Then he'd give me a puzzled WTF? look as he tried to figure out how to make each toy do something amusing. Infant toys are really not very amusing to an almost-2-year-old.
The best was the "gym" that plays a tune and turns lights on and off while a baby lies on a play mat underneath it. It has things to bat at with one's hands. He was mesmerized by it when he was, oh, 5 months old. It's still cute and colorful and part of it looks like a giraffe, but it really doesn't do anything other than play a tune and blink the lights. He was so eager for me to set it up and turn it on and then he just kept looking at it, and then at me, and then back at it, trying to figure out why the awesome hadn't started yet.
