I dreamed last night that I was Scully, and I was investigating a seaside apartment complex with unhappy secretive children and pathological adults in it.  Not sure what about that was requiring X-style investigation, since it's pretty mundane.  Anyway a woman came out on a balcony and started telling Scully everything that was on her mind - her life history, her worries about her children, all of her fears and obsessions.  At this point in the dream I've sort of moved off to a camera's-eye view, instead of being either of the women, althoug of course I was both women, it being a dream. This gave Scully the answers she needed to understand the apartment complex (oh, duh, I just got that: I have a complex. It is complex) but also overwhelmed her brain completely with all the information the woman was dumping on her, which sent her into a coma.  Coma being Scully's preferred way of taking a break, I guess.

I woke up at that point with half of my brain going "gee, I really must have too much on my mind" and the other half going "woo, I'm Scully! Awesome!"

I'm awaiting the teamup of Dana Scully with Olivia Dunham. (Wathing Mulder interact with Walter would be very interesting.)

So, is Fringe any good? Should I be watching it?

You should give it a try anyway. I like all the characters, and Walter, the group's resident scientist, is wonderfully (and literally) crazy. I don't know if catching the series in the middle of the 2nd season would work for you, but I think the first season is available on NetFlix.
