On the Lambda Awards
Sep. 30th, 2009 10:49 pmAs a straight cis woman, I believe it's a very fine thing that there is an award specifically for LGBT authors, and that the rules of the LLAs have been changed or clarified so that the identity of the author is a limiting factor, because that is how craploads of other small literary awards work.
I know a lot of my flist has been hearing the opposite of that this week, combined with a heap of hurtful things, so I just wanted to put that out there.

Date: 2009-10-01 04:48 pm (UTC)i had the mildly surreal experience of being the only writer on a bandwagon post stating that a private LGBT organization had every right to change the rules to their contest and that LGBT folks should have their own literary prize. i'm thinking a certain segment of the lj m/m writing populace and their fans have lost their damn minds. eesh.
