My oldest niece just finished her degree at Savannah College of Art & Design! She's done this while juggling motherhood and work, so double-woo!!

Congratulations to her.

Which branch of SCAD? The original, or SCAD Atlanta?

She did her first year in Savannah, took a few years off to have my great-nephew Angel (now 5 years old!), and finished up at Atlanta.

My sister & her family are Atlanteans, living in various suburbs which I'll PM you if you're interested. She moved down there to escape the snow about 30 years ago. And we're actually southerners on my father's side (Virginia, Alabama, South Carolina, mainly).

You don't completely escape snow in Atlanta, alas. This annoys my wife, who feels she had enough of it living in Philadelphia.

I'm interested, I think. Dunno if she'd be interested in boring old fogeys like us. It's Atlantans, btw. Atlanteans would be residents of Atlantis, a slightly different location.

Congrats. A bunch of my friends and my ex went to SCAD and they all have fond memories. (And some less fond actually, but well, you know, college years.)

Gotcha :)

I'll pm you the towns. My sister is an old fogey, herself, although she wouldn't like to say so - she's got 13 years on me and I'm elderly myself. My niece is a youngster, though.

Eta: By "gotcha" I mean "ha ha, gotcha!" not "ah, now I understand" ;)

Oh, cool! is she at the Atlanta branch or Savannah?

I'll have to ask her, if I can get her attention - I'd assumed it was Savannah, not realizing there were two campuses.

Okay, this makes me want to meet this Fernando guy and talk to him, see what he's about. What he's thinking. All that stuff...she painted him skillfully, but she also painted him REAL.

(You don't know me...I found your New-Crit-Po-Mo essay from...some link somewhere...and am enjoying your journal!)
