Thanksgiving
Nov. 27th, 2008 07:29 amToday I am thankful for:
My husband: in a couple weeks it will be our 9-year anniversary, which means about 13 years of partnership. He's a fun, sweet, cool guy, who's made me a better person and allowed me to make him a better person.
Our son: Charlie, who was given to us as a gift, and is everything we wished for in a child and then some.
Our LID: We are still in the very long line to adopt a daughter from China. It might happen in 3 or 4 years; it might not happen at all, but our place in line (Log-In-Date aka LID) is secure, so I don't have to worry about being chosen or whether somebody likes me.
Our home: We bought a relatively inexpensive fixer-upper several years ago, and we avoided any mortgage that seemed complicated or tricky. So our mortgage is still affordable and the home value is still okay. And while it still needs a lot of work, it's a nice snug family home, with a big basement. We're very happy here.
My creative voice: I struggled with writer's block for a long time, and over the past couple of years I managed to work through most of the trouble. I've been writing more, and better, and I've been enjoying writing for the first time in a couple of decades. Going to 4th street this year improved my craft tremendously. And I've gotten hooked into a group project that's inspiring better and better work from me, as well as being a lot of fun.
My friends: I'm blessed with wonderful friends--people in my family, people in my daily life, long-distance old friends, and online/long-distance new friends. I love all of you guys.
My President-Elect: Love that guy.
