I'm re-watching a Season 4 episode where Daniel is off noodling around with artifacts on his own. He finds something anomalous and possibly dangerous. Before investigating further, he phones Sam back at the base to report what he's found. YES. Thank you. As opposed to, ya know, climbing the mysterious ladder down into the spacetime anomaly without telling the bridge, as is SOP on every Trek show, DAMN IT.

Also the Gou'ald were the best teevee SF villains ever.

Is that very late S4? I'm currently watching my way through all ten seasons for the first time, and I'm just starting the last disk of S4 and don't remember that. OTOH it might just not have leapt out at me since I don't watch enough TV to get annoyed by people doing it wrong. :-)

No, wait, maybe I did notice that. Is it when he goes to the funeral of someone from his past?

This show was awesome in the beginning, but then dwindled to ignominy. I hate the buffed-up Daniel of later seasons.

I loved it up thru the end of S7 (I even liked the whole Daniel-ascended thing) but once Jack stopped being the lead it became kind of meh, for me. Even on its bad days, thoughh, the characters generally act like people who kmow how to do their jobs, which is so rare on tv shows...

Except Daniel loses his job (full disclaimer: I am a linguist. So first he was a linguist; then the universe switched to English and he became an anthropologist - ok, I can accept that with some gnashing of teeth?), but when he becomes just another hulk it was all too much for me.

I must have quit watching by then. *sadface* At least now I know not to bother catching up.

I'm planning to watch all the way through regardless because some of the fanfic I like is set beyond that point. :-)

They really drained all the life out of the characters in the last few seasons (except Vala, who was basically the only interesting person by the end). Sam more or less stopped being a scientist and Daniel stopped being any sort of academic. Sigh.

Of course, the anthropology stuff was always bad from my perspective (minored in it, way back when) because it was all about treasure-hunting and using artifacts to do things, instead of about carefully washing little chips of pottery for weeks at a time, like IRL. But TV anthropology is always about raising a mummy from the dead or stuff like that.

If the fic is better than the show *coughSGAcough* then I don't even bother watching the canon. Fix-it or forget it! :-D

Extroverts who drag introverts along will-they nil-they drive me up the *wall,* mostly because people have done it to me all my life. Not the show's fault, at all, but it's close enough to my embarrassment squick to make it impossible for me to watch.

Ah, SG-1. What a fun, intelligent show (at least in early seasons). I would say more, but I have a teenager chatting at me.

Wait, are you talking about the whole team's dynamic or some pairing in particular?

Vala and Daniel. (Also Picard and that "archaeologist" woman who ran off with Q, and I'm sure I'm forgetting others.)

Ah, yes. I don't heart Vala and Daniel but I did really like her whole storyline with being trapped in Ori country. Also Daniel in S9 and S10 has so little personality he doesn't seem like an introvert any more...

But yeah I can see how you would not enjoy that particular thing. And gods, that horrible haranguing woman with Picard was SO HORRIBLE.
