My Not-Going-To-Wiscon plan

So, Mike had cleared a big chunk of time this weekend so he could watch Charlie on his own and I could go to Wiscon for a day. Since I'm not going, most of that day is available for re-purposing.  Mike's going to watch Charlie on his own for 6 + hours tomorrow while I drive a couple suburbs away, to a very nice library that has tiny private rooms with desks in them.  I am going to print out drafts and notes from the three stories that have been stuck in my mental queue since early 2009 (when the group project I had been writing for went kablooey), and I am going to put new batteries in my Alphasmart, and by gum I am going to draft those three stories, end-to-end.

Ferghal's Fall:  about a very hungry god, and his dwindling supply of worshippers
The Dig:  about an archaeological dig, and the personal secrets it turns up
Career Girl: a retro tale about a 1920's career girl trying to decide if she should accept a marriage proposal. Also, aliens attack.

They're all complete in my head....I just have to extract them.

My online presence has been fitful at best; what made you decide not to go to WisCon? I thought I'd just missed you.

We're just really exhausted - lots of parental medical dramas, plus our own less critical but still-tiring medical dramas. Mike's at the end of his rope so I didn't want to cruelly stick him on toddler duty for 24+ hours without help, and I'm mentally fried from everything anyway. So I decided the time would be better spent trying to bust down some of my wall o' writer's block, which actually did work out pretty well. I was sorry to miss everyone but it made for a nice weekend here at home.
