Thanks to a half-price sale at the mattress store, my baby is going to have a much nicer mattress-and-boxspring-on-the-floor than Mommy and Daddy do, albeit a smaller one (standard twin size. It's being delivered on Friday, and I've spent a bunch of time today playing mental Tetris with the furniture in his room, figuring out where the thing is going to go.

I have sadface over how fast he is growing up...he's still a toddler in his personality and development, of course, but he looks and feels like a big boy and it is TOO SOON.

Me: Charlie, will you put on your special outfit that [birth mom] gave you, and let me take some Birthday pictures?
Charlie: no thank you!
Me: Please? I really want you to.
Charlie: no, I don't want to.
Me: Charlie, if you put on your special outfit and let me take your picture, I will give you candy.
Charlie: Okay Mommy!

Charlie is developing more physical confidence, so he's starting to do more jumping and rolling and falling down.  This is occasionally terrifying for us, but it's good for him, so we encourage it.  The other day he entertained himself, and us, by rolling around on the playroom's foam floor for a while.

So, two weeks ago, right in the middle of all the work in the basement, my new "Limhwa ToYou Sara" doll arrived, after a 6-month wait. She had to immediately go hide in a drawer so she wouldn't get damaged by the dust or flying debris. Yesterday I finally got to take her out and start trying wigs on her, with varying results. These wigs were all bought as options for myElfdoll Hana Devil doll, and are all a little big for the Limhwa, but I'd rather not order new if I can make one of these work. I think I actually like the red fur wig shown in the first picture, but she will definitely need fairy wings if she's going to wear her hair all cray cray like that. (Or I might twist a couple of plastic fishies into her hair so she can be Delirium.)

The construction of Mike's office is finished, yay! So now we're working on putting the basement, and everything in it, into its new configuration. I spent the evening tetrising furnature around in my study (which is next to the new office) so am too tired to post anything coherent. So have some pictures of Charlie with binkies on his toes instead.
IMG_7951

(1. He can't put them on his own toes yet; he waves a binky at me and says "toes, toes" until I do it. 2. He can't stick a binky in his mouth with his toes...yet. We are encouraging toe skills since in some cases an agile foot is a good substitute for a hand. Arboreal locomotion, for example.)

These are from back in August but I forgot to post them then...I have only let Charlie have Hi-C a couple of times, and I only fill it halfway, I swear!  He usually eats a pretty healthy diet, within the scope of his allergy restrictions. But he was such a good boy when I took him into the 7-11 with me on this particular weekend Diet Coke run (Diet Coke, nectar of the gods), and he does so love to do what Mommy and Daddy do, that I got him his own half Gulp as a treat.  Mike took the pictures to commemorate our awful un-nutritional parenting.  And the nice lazy afternoon we were having hanging out on the stoop.

He kept taking them off my face, so I stuck them on him. Cannot stop giggling at this little-old-lady picture.

ETA: Elise suggests a caption contest for this picture!  Have at it if you're so inclined. (I'll have to think a bit about what the prize should be)

Charlie is nearly 2, and is starting to look like a little boy instead of a baby. I am not a fan of this rapid growing up thing! Too fast! Although I am enjoying his developing personality a lot.

Charlie outgrew his original carseat a long time ago, but we kept it around until our recent spring cleaning.  We pretty much failed at our original plan of taking a picture in it every month, but we did get a few over the past couple of years.  Before toting it off to the Salvation Army last week we managed to get him in it one more time.

Things have been kind of depressing in Dell-ville lately, what with various health thingies and life thingies in our extended family.  Fortunately we have a ready source of cheer (also a ready source of vomit and pee and so forth, but it's a good tradeoff).

Brush-a brush-a brush-a!  (Well, sort of. First I brush his teeth for real, then he gets to have a go)
